"A Very Large Array: Early Federal Historic Preservation--the Antiquities Act, Mesa Verde, and the National Park Service Act"
Dr. Richard West Sellars has published "A Very Large Array: Early Federal Historic Preservation--the Antiquities Act, Mesa Verde, and the National Park Service Act," first appeared in the Natural Resources Journal, published by the School of Law at the University of New Mexico. Then it was republished in the George Wright Forum, volume 1, 2008 (current issue). Two key sections are the discussion of the many (and little known) contributions of U.S. John F. Lacey of Iowa in the fields of preservation and conservation (see pages 73-84); and the discussion of the role of cultural resources in the legislative history of the 1916 Act--heretofore, not much analyzed (see pages 87-104).
