Molly N. Ross worked in Washington, D.C for over 31 years on National Park Service law and policy issues.  She served in the Solicitor’s Office for about 16 of those years, including 10 years as Assistant Solicitor for National Parks; and she served in the National Park Service for over 15 years of those years, first as Assistant Chief of the Air Quality Division and then, during the Clinton Administration, as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks focusing on park matters.  Molly was involved in a full spectrum of issues, including natural and cultural resource protection, Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act issues, water rights, concessions, land exchange and acquisition, mining, marine protected areas, special park uses, public use (e.g., motorized uses, hunting), First Amendment issues, wilderness, land use decision-making in the District of Columbia, and more.  She helped to resolve some tough problems, like commercial fishing in Glacier Bay, the Black Canyon water rights decree, acquisition of key parcels in Denali and Valley Forge, and the retrofitting of pollution controls on key power plants.  She is a recognized expert in the NPS Organic Act and other park statutes, the Antiquities Act, the Clean Air Act, various planning and procedural statutes, and NPS regulations and management policies.  Molly received the Department of the Interior’s Meritorious Service Award in 1995, and the NPS Director’s Award for Professional Excellence in Natural Resources for 2009.  She is a graduate of Harvard College and the University of Chicago Law School.  In retirement, Molly has more time to enjoy the outdoors, birds, books, family and friends, while also staying engaged in park issues through the Coalition for National Park Service Retirees, the George Wright Society, the National Parks Conservation Association, and other organizations.
