08.31.2012 - Yellowstone NP Will Extend Comment Period on Supplemental EIS on Winter Use
Today, Yellowstone National Park announced in the Federal Register that in response to requests from various parties, it was extending the comment period on its Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement on winter use for an additional 30 days. In a separate announcement in the Register, the park announced its intention to retain the regulatory and management framework that has been in place for the last three winters for the upcoming winter season. This would limit daily snowmobile traffic to 318 best available technology machines and 78 snowcoaches. It also will continue to require commercial guides for all over-snow vehicles that enter the park.
